Don't Miss "The Radio Caroline Story" This Sunday!

Celebrate 60 years of broadcasting rebellion with the legendary Radio Caroline!

On 28 March 2024, the world's most iconic pirate radio station marked its 60th anniversary. Now, for the next two weeks, you have the exclusive opportunity to relive the extraordinary journey of this trailblazing station through a special two-part documentary, originally produced in 2014.

Founded in 1964 by the visionary Ronan O'Rahilly, Radio Caroline was born to break free from the stranglehold of record companies and the BBC's monopoly on popular music broadcasting in the UK. From international waters, Radio Caroline defied the odds, operating from five different ships under three different owners from 1964 to 1990, and later via satellite from 1998 to 2013. Today, Radio Caroline continues to make waves, broadcasting on the
internet and on radio in selected areas.

This station's story is one of resilience and defiance, battling not only the elements but also the might of successive governments. From evading legitimate broadcasters to surviving mutinies, raids, and even a hurricane, Radio Caroline's spirit remained unbroken, even after the sinking of its original ship, the Mi Amigo.

Tune in to Part 1 of "Caroline at 50" titled "A Life on the Medium Wave" this Sunday at 9 PM, with Part 2, "Fool if You Think It's Over," airing at the same time the following week. Immerse yourself in the rich history of Radio Caroline through the memories of its broadcasters, iconic jingles, and show
clips that capture the essence of each era.

For fans of British radio, this is a must-listen event you won't want to miss!
