The Music Machine: Now That's What I Call a Radio Show.

Hi everyone

The Now That's What I Call Music albums have been of our lives now for 35 years. Featuring more than 2000 artists, and selling over 120 million copies, the Now brand has turned 100. The most recent double album was released on 20 July 2018.

It's been a longstanding tradition that we've had at least two Now albums per year. It's a brand we trust to bring us the best of the new music from the past six months, and in the days before streaming media, it was all we had. There's no sign of it stopping soon, which is why this week on the Music Machine, we're celebrating the release of the compilation album in Britain and especially the Now series!

Which was your first Now album? We always remember our first love, and many of us recall our first Now album too. Let me know which was yours?

And how did we get to this point? What about compilation albums before Now That's What I Call Music? I'll tell you about some of those, including the major Various Artist labels, and we mustn't forget the Top of the Pops albums, where the public thought they were getting the original artists on an LP but they were not.

You'll hear lots of interesting Now facts, including details of the first Now album to be released on CD or Minidisc, and what do the stars who have appeared on the albums think about them?

We have all 100 Now albums in our library, so feel free to let me know which are the ones you remember. You can email brian@team-fm.com, or use Facebook and Twitter, TeamFMRadio.

I'm sure we've all bought a compilation album of some kind in our lifetime. Join me on Saturday at 7 PM UK time which is 2 PM US Eastern on Team-FM, and lets make the journey together to see how we reached Now that's What I Call Music 100!
